We understand that organisations have their own safeguarding policies in place. However, to ensure our Code Clubs are a safe place for all learners, we require a safeguarding sponsor be identified for every club.
A safeguarding sponsor works with the club leader. The safeguarding sponsor does not need to attend the club, but should be aware of Code Club's safeguarding procedures and be available to support the club leader in the event of a safeguarding concern. You cannot run a Code Club without a safeguarding sponsor.
The safeguarding sponsor must be different to the club leader. They cannot have a shared email address, and the email address should include their name.
Ideally, their email address should be linked to the Code Club venue, or, if this is not possible, to the organisation hosting the club.
